Disney Orders New Series “While You Were Breeding”

Disney has announced that it has ordered a series of a brand new young adult wanderlust dramedy “While You Were Breeding,” which is based on the memoir from Kristin Newman (“Only Murders in the Building”).

“While You Were Breeding” follows Kacey, single for the first time in her 30s, as she escapes her fast-paced life in Los Angeles to see the world. From culture clash to vacation romances, this internationally set dramedy is a globetrotting journey of self-discovery that will inspire the wanderlust inside everyone.

The series is written by Kristin Newman (“Only Murders in the Building”) and based on her best-selling memoir of the same name. Newman also executive produces along with Susanna Fogel (“The Flight Attendant”) and Blair Breard (“Scenes from a Marriage”). The pilot is directed by Becca Gleason (“Summer ’03”).

Thank God for The Other Two

After a nearly two-year wait, niche-favorite comedy series The Other Two returns this week (HBO Max, May 4) for its third season.

It couldn’t have come soon enough, as Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider’s series—about the family of a Justin Bieber-esque pop idol—is a winsome, riotously funny look at the mechanics of celebrity.

Jessica Chastain to Lead Apple Limited Series ‘The Savant’

Jessica Chastain is the latest A-lister to score her own show at Apple.

The Oscar-winning The Eyes of Tammy Faye actress will star in The Savant, an eight-episode limited series inspired by a true story published by Cosmopolitan.

While Apple is remaining mum on details, Andrea Stanley — who is attached as a consultant on the Chastain show — penned a Cosmo story in August 2019 under the headline “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” that detailed a woman known as “The Savant,” an investigator whose job is to take down the country’s most violent men before they can carry out large-scale attacks.

Jessica Chastain Re-Teams With Oscar Isaac In HBO Series ‘Scenes From A Marriage’

Jessica Chastain will reunite with Oscar Isaac to star in Scenes From A Marriage, the HBO limited series adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s miniseries. Limited series comes from Our Boys and The Affairco-creator Hagai Levi, Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res and Endeavor Content.

Levi is writing and directing a series adaptation that re-examines the show’s iconic depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple, played by Isaac and Chastain. Ingmar Bergman wrote and directed the original 1973 Swedish miniseries, which starred Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson. Bergman’s teleplay, the story of the disintegration of a marriage, drew on his own experiences, including his relationship with Ullmann.

Levi executive produces with Ellenberg via Media Res, Lars Blomgren (The Bridge), Isaac, Daniel Bergman, Blair Breard and Amy Herzog. The series is a co-production with Media Res and Endeavor Content, and Isaac and Chastain are also exec producers.

Colin Quinn’s Drive-In Special Is One of the Great Feats in Stand-Up History

Such a historic moment of discomfort, distress and discombobulation in comedy is precisely what longtime performer Colin Quinn captures in his directorial debut, an HBO Max original film released last week, Colin Quinn & Friends: A Parking Lot Comedy Show.

Among the ruling body… was executive producer Blair Breard, who’s helmed several notable comedy TV shows, including Baskets and Better Things, as well as stand-up specials like Louis C.K.: Live at the Comedy Store.

Ally Engelberg, director of development and production at Above Average, the production services company that partnered with Breard to generate the Quinn special, says the piece is nothing less than “a historical document” about comedy and film production in the age of COVID-19.

As more than an artform, and perhaps a public service, Quinn says, “I feel like comedy has proven itself now.”

Broadway Video’s Above Average & M. Blair Breard Team On Production Services Offering For Scripted Content

Broadway Video’s Above Average Productions and veteran film and television producer M. Blair Breard are teaming to create a new production services offering focused exclusively on premium scripted content.

Breard and Above Average say the partnership will leverage Breard’s production expertise, approach to creative producing, and deep industry relationships with Above Average’s established production services infrastructure. Breard and Above Average will continue to develop projects independently.

Producer Blair Breard Inks First-Look Deal With FX Productions

Veteran producer Blair Breard, and her newly formed production company Bossy Boots, has closed a first-look deal with FX Productions.

Breard currently serves as an executive producer on Facebook series Stranger.

Breard has received six Primetime Emmy nominations, including three for FX’s Louie on which she served as an executive producer for all five seasons. She also was an executive producer on FX’s Baskets and Better Things as well as Amazon’s One Mississippi and the web series Horace and Pete.

Breard is repped by UTA and Tom Collier of Sloane Offer.
